The Prayer - Wikipedia

The Prayer, auch „Prayyer“ genannt, ist eine deutsch/irische Band.

Bandhistory

The Prayer wurde im November 1990 in Köln von dem Nordiren Ian Miller und Martin Haug gegründet. Der von der Band anfangs gewählte Stil Synthie Pop wurde später durch Progressive Rock ergänzt. Es kamen Michael O'Neil (starb 1994), MG Kramer und Tony Ground dazu. Nach O'Neils Selbstmord löste sich die Band zunächst kurzfristig auf. Miller führte sie von 1994 bis 2002 mit dem Multiinstrumentalisten Henry Monheimius, den er übers Internet kenenlernte, weiter.
Nachdem sie zahlreiche Alben aufgenommen hatte, löste sich auch diese Formation im Jahre 2002 auf. Miller wandte sich dem Gothic Metal zu und ging bis 2003 mit einigen Bands, unter anderen mit „Lost Streams“, auf Tour. Die damalige Musik hatte Anleihen zu der Gothic-Rock-Band Fields of the Nephilim oder auch Paradise Lost. Im November 2004 gründete er die Band zusammen mit Thorsten Schaefer neu. 2008 veröffentlichten sie ihr Album „Scars“, im Jahr darauf folgte das Album „Trust“. Der Song „Welcome to the End“ kam als Samplerbeitrag in zahlreiche Indie-Zines. Im gleichen Jahr kehrte Henry Monheimius zur Band zurück. Nach relativer kurzer Einspielungszeit erschien das Album „Walk Alone“ im Januar 2010. Im gleichen Monat waren sie mit dem Samplerbeitrag „Today is Life“ und einem Interview im Zillo vertreten.
Henry Monheimius verließ die Band im März 2010. Miller arbeitet seitdem mit dem Thorsten Schäfer an einem neuen Album.
Seit dem August 2010 arbeitet Miller auch als DJ bei dem Radio Sender : Radio Pearl of Music, was man aus der Webseite der Band entnehmen kann.
Seit dem Januar 2011 sind noch zwei weitere Musiker hinzugekommen, zum einen der Berny Racz, der ebenfalls aus Belfast kommt und zum anderen der Musiker der Band Vycos, Marix Senk. Neues Album ist für das Jahr 2011 geplant.
